Applications Now Being Accepted for Valley Forge Military College Scholarship Program, Says Swanger
For the first time, scholarships to the Valley Forge Military College are being made available through the school’s Legislative Appointment Initiative, says Rep. RoseMarie Swanger (R-Lebanon).
The program provides an award that consists of guaranteed acceptance into Valley Forge, a $9,000 scholarship and a nomination into the U.S. Army’s Early Commissioning Program (ECP). Should the appointee be accepted into the program and receive an ECP Scholarship, the student would be able to graduate from Valley Forge Military College debt free.
The deadline to apply for the program is April 1, 2010. Interested applicants should be graduates of a secondary school, have at least a 2.5 grade point average, and must have scored at least 1,000 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or 21 on the American College Testing (ACT) exam.
Applicants must also submit an essay of 500 words or less on the subject “What America Means to Me.” A local selection committee will review the essays and recommend one student as a legislative appointee to the freshman class of the next school year.
Valley Forge Military College offers a two-year program where students graduate with an associate’s degree in arts, sciences or business administration. Many Valley Forge graduates continue on to four-year colleges, while others go on to a service academy.
Essays should be sent to Swanger’s district office at 2134 ½ West Maple Street, Lebanon PA, 17046. For more information on Valley Forge Military College, log on to Swanger’s Web site, RepSwanger.com.
