Legislation to modernize Pennsylvania’s Small Games of Chance Law and make it easier for nonprofits, charitable organizations and other civic groups to raise operating revenue was approved in the state House this week and now heads to the governor’s desk for his signature. Rep. RoseMarie Swanger (R-Lebanon),) said this update bill allows charitable organizations to raise limits for prize payouts and also includes her amendment to allow use of some proceeds for operating expenses. Rep. Swanger Bill to Make English PA's Official Language the Topic of a State Government Committee Hearing - 9/14/2011
Two bills that would make English the official language of Pennsylvania were the topic of a House State Government Committee hearing held Wednesday in Harrisburg. Rep. RoseMarie Swanger (R-Lebanon), sponsor of one of the pieces of legislation, said her bill does not require anyone to learn English, but it does require all official business conducted by state government to be done in English. Rep. RoseMarie Swanger Comments on House Passage of Budget - 6/29/2011
The Pennsylvania House has passed a $27.15 billion spending plan, completing the budget before the constitutional deadline of June 30. The budget includes no tax increases, and reduces overall spending from the previous year. Rep.
